...From Ancient Wounds was the First Prize Recipient in the 2020 Ottawa Guitar Society Call for Scores. The full sheet music is published with Productions D'oz

Programme Notes:

This piece evokes a feeling of being trapped within ones self. The title, "...From Ancient Wounds" is a nod towards the album Ahmad Al Arabi by Arabic poetic and musical giants Mahmoud Darwish and Marcel Khalife, which features a haunting piece called, Ahmad Emerges From the Ancient
Wounds. Like their piece, mine is an effort to navigate the traumas that cloud all of us, in order to find a way out. This self doubt seems like an atmosphere we don’t even realize we are shrouded in until we begin to emerge from it. The form of my composition is a non-linear stream of consciousness akin to a fever dream. Sections drift between one another. Some are violent and with smothering dissonances, others are hopeful
moments of resistance. Rather than trying to emulate the sound and structure of Ahmad Emerges..., I attempted to create a sound-world that evoked what this message meant to me.
